“Panty Bloom” wins Best in Show at TELUS Ski and Snowboard World Festival
Whistler, BC (April 20, 2010) – Amidst a field of nearly 40 filmmakers, “Panty Bloom,” a film by Rightside Productions’ Joe Gaetani, with support from Alex Adrian, and Chris Zimmerman, won the coveted Best in Show Award at the 14th annual TELUS Ski and Snowboard World Festival.
The narrative journey of a bra from girl to tree, “Panty Bloom,” was selected by a panel of internationally acclaimed filmmakers and critics as Best in Show at the 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown. A favorite at the TELUS SSWF, the Filmmaker Showdown gives entrants 72 hours to film, edit, and deliver a 3-5 minute film. The films must be created entirely within a 100km radius of Whistler, and need to include a prop of event organizer’s choosing (this year it was a yoyo).
From the 39 films that were entered this year, eight were selected as finalists and aired in front of a sold out crowd of more than 1,800 people at the TELUS Conference Center in Whistler, BC. Of those eight, one film was chosen by the crowd as Viewer’s Choice, and one was selected by the panel of judges as Best in Show. The Viewer’s Choice award went to last year’s winning team for their battle filled film “The War of 1910 and/or 1924;” while the Best in Show went to “Panty Bloom."
